Accessibility

The accessibility of digital content is a key societal concern and an expression of our commitment to inclusion. As a publishing house, we also strive to make our e-books available in the most accessible way possible. Wherever feasible, our e-books are therefore provided in the PDF/UA-1 standard (ISO 14289-1:2014).

The intellectual and design complexity of many of our publications is a defining feature of our publishing program. At the same time, it presents an ongoing challenge for the full implementation of the legal requirements set out in Directive (EU) 2019/882 on accessibility requirements for products and services (European Accessibility Act – EAA).

We continuously work to improve our e-book offering and, wherever technically and editorially feasible, take into account feedback from users, authors, and other stakeholders.

This statement applies to all e-books published after the EU regulation comes into effect. For older titles in our extensive backlist program, we are unfortunately not yet able to guarantee full accessibility. We kindly ask for your understanding in this regard.

If you are interested in a specific work from our backlist and require an accessible version, please feel free to contact us. We will be happy to examine whether an accessible version can be made available in individual cases.

We also welcome any feedback or comments regarding existing accessibility barriers in our e-book offering. Upon request, we will inform you about known limitations and about cases in which exemptions from the legal requirements may apply.
